Q: “How can you hold that thing, doesn’t it’s spikes hurt?”
A: “Easily, he (or she) is my precious friend. And yeah, sometimes love hurts 🙂 !”
Q: “Why choose a lizard, they’re… scaly?”
A: “I think their scales are beautiful. They have soft bellies, and they love love, they really do. They’re intelligent and surprisingly, can be quite cuddly – the cuddliest to me, in fact!”
Q: “Ech, how can you love a lizard? That’s stupid.”
A: “Um, you’re stupid!”
…No, not really folks, but the first two questions were really asked me in the past. If you’re not convinced they’re fabulous, look below at all the cute.
In a search engine (Google, Youtube, whatever) you’ll find more adorable lizards by typing “Cute lizards” or “Funny lizards”. It’s good stuff. The darlings below have the links accompanying them to where these adorable photos were seen.
Q: “There are important things happening in the world, aren’t there better things with which to occupy your time and discuss, we’re looking at lizards?”
A: “So long as there is civilization or uncivilization, there are other pressing matters. We have our own political views here, they do not coincide with the views of the many. People are offended & outraged everywhere (to them, we say, “toughen up some, please & go enjoy your life.”); people are starving or obese; wars consist of men, women & children ( & animals) dying horribly for this reason here or that one over there; humans and animals are being mistreated all around this beautiful planet; children need help; we can’t trust people, governments, media, and so on. We need a rest from all this sometimes, if we can get one.
These things are issues, and there are others discussing topics such as these very skillfully. These matters will be left to them for now. Some times we choose our battles, some times not, but there they arise. They can creep up on us like those dust particle pricks landing on the desk you just wiped clean, and you may think, “What the… Where did you even come from? You’re despicable and I’m pretty sure I hate you!” Sometimes battles are like dust in the wind, they come and go. Sometimes you can’t seem to get rid of them.
Getting knowledge and cuteness out into the world in regards to lizards could be considered a battle, it’s laborious, especially considering some of our blogging friends are still frightened by them… you know who you are :). However, helping others is not always a battle, rather, it is a mission from the heart, and often, especially where animals are involved. One goal is to bring people together whom otherwise would never encounter one another in any way but for one common thread: our love for animals and our desire, as the human species, to see them live good lives.
We hope to encourage those with varying schedules & needs for companionship to keep in mind that reptiles and lizards can be enjoyable options for friendship, that they can be rescued and adopted into families, same as cats and dogs. There aren’t enough homes for the beautiful animals already here. Together, if we obtain animal friends by means of adopting them, maybe we can discourage the hyperactivity of puppy mills and pet stores from purchasing more from breeders, thus condoning further overpopulation. They can resume business when there is a need to continue a species, in our opinion.
To some, lizards have given an abundance of love and laughs. We believe exposing their special characteristics is important. They need protection and love too, for generations to come. We don’t want them seen as pests or creatures to fear & we want others to smile with us because of them. We often trust our animals, we love them, and need them. Can you imagine Earth without them all? Every type makes their part of the world complete. They either take us far from here, or really bring us home. Does anyone know what is meant by this?”
Thank you for loving lizards with us, or just coming to visit us here and appreciate them.
Warm regards from Lizardplanet and Lil’ Murph!
