Meet Poppy the Pretty Hoppy Frog

Yes, this is a site about lizards, where the goal is to educate and entertain people about lizard companionship and what lizards experience. Of course the main goal Lil’ Murph and I set out to do is “To Convert The Masses To Love Lizards Too.”

But today I want to share a special being that is tiny in size, but huge in personality. And she mysteriously entered my life when I need her after a year of huge losses on December 16th, 2025.

Introducing… the amazing Poppy

I love this photo! I saw a cricket walk behind Poppy. She saw it in the mirror. She flipped around to eat it. Know what that means? She understands the concept of the mirror through observation!!
Poppy is SO cute when she looks up and thinks!!
🥰🥰🥰
Screenshot of video. The yellows are flash colors to warn predators of toxicity. Amazing!
Look at the curled hands and belly from the underside of the glass bookshelf!! Too cute. Too cute.
Gorgeous
About every other day we walk around and look out the windows & doors & at other things. Poppy turns away from something once she (possibly he) is bored with the scene.
Poppy is sometimes found on the tubing I ran from a humidifier outside of the enclosure & into it to keep the level at near 60% the best I can.
Poppy is sleeping with head low and pupils very tiny
I cut a toilet paper roll and placed it on the mirror, she likes to perch up there under the night time heat light sometimes.
She used to sleep here before deciding to sleep under the cave on the other side of the wood in the photo below. She has preferences & I am impressed at her smartness!
Since this photo, the tube has been placed in small tub, after finding bugs floating in accumulated water drips which should’ve been an obvious possibility, it’s now clipped into a water bottle I can frequently dump.
1st day with Poppy… look how green that day!

We’ve gotten close. She trusts me & makes it known. I love her.

What might Murph say about Poppy?

“Give me Lizardry or give me Death!” ❤️ Murph & Dawn & Poppy too

  1. Poppy looks amazing.

I love how she grasps the concept of mirrors.

  2. Poppy is beautiful and her new home is so wonderful. Murph must be so happy you have someone to love. He wouldn’t want you to be alone. He loved you too much for that, so he’s probably snickering to himself. Have fun and enjoy your new baby.

  3. I’m curious about the name Poppy. Any particular reason why you decided to name her that? The mirror is a pretty remarkable discovery. How do frogs compare to bearded dragons in intelligence?
